Vampires have always been a popular fantasy. From teens to adults many people want to be a vampire, get bitten by a vampire, kill a vampire, or fuck a vampire.
The more recent films make out vampires to be sexy, but people were seeing the appeal even when ‘The Lost Boys’ came out, or even back in the days where Vincent Price was Dracula.
The older fantasy was perhaps more innocent. The unconscious and bitten girl carried helpless in the vampires arms appealed to many women, as did the secret nightime visits.
The modern tales have heavy sexual overtones to them – such as in ‘Twilight’.
